Susie is a native of Colorado.  Born in Denver, she lived in Westminster until just after her brother Ted was born.   At age 2, Susie and her family moved to Broomfield where they lived in the same house until after she graduated in 1988 from Broomfield High School.

After attending Colorado State University and still living in Fort Collins, Susie met her husband Mike and asked him out on a date after a couple months of flirting.  From the first date they were hooked and have been together ever since.

Susie and Mike have two children, Justin and Samantha.  The family stays very busy between a multitude of kid activities, Susie’s passion for triathlon and Mike’s love for playing cards.  There is never a dull moment in their house.

Susie’s parents are both remarried and living in Colorado.  It is a true blessing to have so many doting grandparents!  She is very close to both her mom and dad and cherishes the support they have provided with her career and family.

Susie’s mom Mary was diagnosed with breast cancer in March of 2004, but being her typical tough self, Mary fought it and is now a proud survivor.  Susie has been a longtime supporter of breast cancer awareness, however, since her mom’s diagnosis it became much more personal.  It is no coincidence that Susie’s first triathlon benefitted Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Susie and her brother started an event company in 2011 (Wargin Events) and hosted their first cycling event in September 2011.  The Wacky W benefited Douglas County Schools and raised over $7,000 with close to 450 riders.  The 2nd annual Wacky W is scheduled for September 9, 2012.
